6 Great Valentine’s Day Activities to do in Malibu!
Tuesday, February 14th is quickly approaching and we all know what that means, Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re trying to impress someone new, in a brand new relationship or have been with that someone for countless years, you always want to make Cupid’s day a special one.
As long time Malibu residents, we think that Malibu is one of the best places to spend Valentine’s day. There is plenty of natural beauty surrounding us, great local restaurants to go to, and plenty of unuqie activities to do. We’ve come up with a list of some fun and romantic ideas for anyone who is looking to spend a great day in beautiful Malibu. By no means is this a complete list of activities, just some of our favorites. Enjoy!
1. Enjoy a Romantic Malibu Sunset
Malibu simply experiences some of the most breathtaking sunsets you can imagine. There are so many great spots to watch the sun go down to make this activity the perfect low key Valentine’s Day date. We suggest checking out some of the west facing public beaches here like Zuma for optimal viewing pleasure.
The sun is planned to set at 5:39PM on February 14th so plan accordingly. If you are feeling really ambitious check out the sunrise as well! Sunrise is at 6:41AM that morning.
2. Day Hike at one of Malibu’s Many Beautiful Hikes
COST: $0 – $10 (parking)
One of the best ways to spend some meaningful, quality time with someone is to go hiking. Hiking allows time for a great conversation while enjoying the beautiful scenery around you. Not to mention the added bonus of exercise and its FREE!
There are a couple of hikes that we recommend specifically for Valentine’s Day:
Charmlee Wilderness Park – This hike, located up Encinal Canyon on the west end of Malibu, provides some of the best views of the coast as well as different trail options throughout the hiking grounds. You can spend anywhere from 1 to 3 hours exploring the park!
Cameron Nature Preserve – We recommend the Cameron Nature Preserve not only for the breathtaking views but because it is likely to be less crowded that some of the other popular hikes on Valentine’s Day.
3. Make it a Movie Night at Regal Cinemas Malibu Twin
Sometimes the perfect Valentine’s Day is just a quiet night at the movies! If that sounds like more of your cup of tea, head on down to Regal Cinemas Malibu Twin for movie night, especially because it is rumored to be closing soon :/.
The theater will be playing ’50 Shades Darker’ and the ‘Lego Batman Movie’ on that Tuesday.

4. Spend the Day at Malibu Wine Tasting Room / Wine Safari (ALSO GREAT FOR SINGLES)
If wine and Valentine’s Day don’t go together, I don’t know what two things do.
From February 11th through the 14th, the tasting room is running a special with 20% off Saddlerock Rose and an extra 10% for Malibu Family Wine Club Members. Complimentary chocolate with all purchases.
There is no charge for entry into the tasting room and wine is very reasonably priced. Outside food is welcomed!
Wine Safari: If you’re feeling up to it, buy tickets for the incredibly unique and fun Wine Safari. They are offering a special Valentine’s Safari the 11th – 19th. If you don’t already know, the Wine Safari takes you on a tour of the surrounding vineyards in specially redesigned stadium seating trucks. The tour includes visits to picturesque spots on the property and visits to see the many exotic animals including Stanley the Giraffe (as seen in The Hangover 3).
Spots are filling up fast for the special Valentine’s Safari. For prices and reservations check out there website here.
