Malibu’s inaugural One Water Festival is a free informative and exciting event designed for all ages. Malibu’s One Water Festival will educate, inspire, and activate the public on water issues and conservation at a time when California’s worst drought on record brings attention to the diminishing state of our most valuable resource.

Education and Conservation
Explore the current and projected issues affecting local water supplies. Find out where our water comes from, where it goes, supply and demand, and what can be done to increase and conserve current supplies.

Malibu’s One Water Competition
Malibu’s One Water Competition is for Malibu students in grades K-12. Students will create a project focusing on the importance of the community using water in Malibu responsibly. Examples of topics include: outdoor and indoor water conservation, water use behaviors, water quality, or the watershed. Projects can be a demonstration, video content, social media campaign, artwork, poster, club project, experiment or something we haven’t thought about!
Up to $1,500 in Prizes
Up to $1,500 in prizes will be awarded at the City of Malibu’s discretion. All prizes are chosen by a panel of judges and awarded to a legal parent or guardian. Prizes will be awarded at Malibu’s One Water Festival on June 18th at Point Dume Marine Science School. You must be present to claim your prize.
How to Enter
To enter download and complete the entry and parent consent form. E-mail the completed official contest submission and parent consent form to malibucitywaterfest@gmail.com on or before May 31st. All submissions will be reviewed and finalists will be asked to compete for $1,500 in prizes by presenting their project at Malibu’s One Water Festival on June 18th at Point Dume Marine Science School!
Official Rules and Requirements
- This competition is open to Malibu students in grades K-12.
- All projects will have a ten-minute maximum duration.
- All projects must focus on Malibu’s water.
- Projects must be appropriate (no scenes that could be considered inappropriate for students).
- Properly clear and credit any source film clips, images, or locations you use. To verify winning entries, participants submit proof of proper clearances.
- Only one submission entry per person.
- Complete the contest entry and parent consent form and e-mail to malibucitywaterfest@gmail.com. Must complete the contest forms on or before May 31, 2016 to be eligible.
- Selected finalists will present their project in person at Malibu’s One Water Festival. Must be present to claim your prize.
- Entries must fully comply with all official rules as stated. Failure to comply will result in an ineligible submission.
