chili cook off

It’s that time of year again! Labor Day Weekend is almost here which can mean only one thing (besides insane PCH traffic); The Malibu Chili Cook Off has arrived! Every year at the tail end of summer, the city’s one and only carnival sets up shop in central Malibu for three days and four nights, providing a little extra spark to the city. Put on by the Kiwanis Club of Malibu, the Chili Cook Off provides fun for the community while raising money for local charities. The 35th Malibu Chili Cook off is sure to provide a great time with rides, games, and of course, chili!

The carnival opens its doors this Friday for “Locals Night” beginning at 6pm, ending at 10pm. Saturday and Sunday the event opens at 10am, however the chili cook off does not begin until 11am while ending at 6pm. The event closes its doors at 10pm all nights except for Monday when is closes for the final time of the year at 6pm.

Along with the rides, games, and food, the Chili Cook Off will also play host to a number of musical performances and local vendors. Musical performances will include acts such as The Karma Dealers, Two Ton Folk, The Mad Hatter Jazz Band, Ooks of Hazard and many more! Musical performances can be seen at either the Main Stage or at the stage in the Hoyt Wine Garden. See the picture below for a list of musical performances. A number of local vendors will also be attending the Cook Off to sell their products including clothing, food, art and more!

New this year to the Cook Off, the Kiwanis Club has swapped the raffle prize of a new car for 4 different vacation getaways. If you have been to the Chili Cook Off in years past, you are probably familiar with the raffle where the winner takes home a brand new car. Instead of the new car, this year the prize has been split up into four different 1 week vacation getaways with up to $500 in travel expenses. Prize destinations include Fiji, Costa Rica, Palm Springs, and Mammoth Mountain. Just like the years prior, you can obtain a raffle ticket by purchasing the 4 day VIP passes for $200. Prizes will be given away on Sunday, September 4th, however you do not have to be present to claim your prize. For more information or to get your tickets click here!

Years passed have drawn thousands to this annual event this year will be no different. To purchase tickets or for more information about purchasing tickets, click the link provided here! Hope to see you there.
