The Nicholas Flats via Malibu Springs is a hike for the adventurer willing to wander off the beaten (and rather hidden) path. Finding the trailhead for Nicolas Flats via Malibu Springs is part of the adventure. Head north on PCH passed Leo Carrillo State Park and turn inland up Mulholland Highway. About 3 miles up on the right side of the road you will spot a sign for the Malibu Springs Trail.
This lollipop loop trail is 7 miles long and a bit overgrown in some areas. We strongly suggest wearing long pants on this hike. The initial (shaded) climb will take you up to enjoy fantastic views of one of the highest peaks of the Santa Monica Mountains. It will then bring you down through beautiful meadows, Nicholas Pond and an overlook of the Pacific Ocean.
Although you may want to bring your four-legged and wheel-barring pals, dogs and bikes are prohibited from this trail!
